A letter from our Principal
Dear Parents, Guardians & Students,
I would like to welcome you to Yucca Elementary School and to the start of a great 2022/2023 school year. My name is Dr. Christina Trujillo, and I am the Yucca Elementary School Principal. This will be an amazing school year and I look forward to meeting you. This is my 19th year working in education. I earned my Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University, as well as other degrees in Business Administration and Curriculum and Instruction. I am also involved in Teaching English as a Second Language and serve as the Vice President of NM TESOL. I have served in various roles in education and absolutely love teaching and watching students grow in their knowledge. I am coming to Alamogordo from the Rio Rancho Public Schools. I absolutely adore the Alamogordo community and spent my early years in school in Alamogordo. I am coming back to my roots.
A little about me, I am a world traveler and enjoy experiencing different cultures, languages, and foods. My interests include reading, writing, and spending time outdoors. I am a military spouse, and my husband just retired from the Army. I have two sons and one granddaughter. I grew up in a military family, so I can relate to experiences of moving, changing schools, and meeting friends. Therefore, I will do everything possible to support families as I know some have this shared experience.
As a firm believer of family engagement in the school, I would like to invite you to be a part of this. If you think you would like to join in planning an event, please reach out: Christina.Trujillo@alamogordoschools.org. Our staff members work very hard on hosting these events, and we are inviting parents and guardians to be a part of this important work.
Sincerely,
Christina M. Trujillo, PhD
Principal
